More About Natalie Chase
Did you know that Natalie’s son is a real-life Incredible Cam Man? Cameron was diagnosed with autism at age three. By that time, Natalie had been working in the applied behavioral analysis field for seven years. While he’s still too young to understand his unique connection to the Cam Man, Cameron loves the book his mother has written and often requests that she read it to him. He even has his own awesome Cam Man costume!
The Incredible Cam Man was a Children’s Picture Book Finalist in the 2017 Next Generation Indie Book Awards! These awards are open to authors of books published by small, local publishers like Brandylane, and Natalie and her book rose to the top. In May, Natalie attended a gala in New York, where she and The Incredible Cam Man were presented with their award.
Natalie loves kids’ books because of the vivid colors and lovely images. She says, “You’ll always find me in the children’s book section.” When she was a kid, two of her favorite titles were Caps for Sale and The Pop-Up Mice of Mr. Brice. As an adult, Natalie writes stories to help people on the autism spectrum develop a variety of skills. Her signature rhyming scheme makes the tips easier to process and remember. Natalie has some plans in the works for her next published book, a sequel to The Incredible Cam Man!
Before becoming a published author, and since, Natalie has enjoyed many successes in her field of Applied Behavioral Analysis. Natalie is certified through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board as a BCaBA, holds a master’s degree in counseling, and is now the director of her office. Conducting research therapy and tracking data for children on the spectrum (and related disorders) is all in a day’s work for Natalie, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. Seven years into her work in the field, Natalie’s son Cameron was diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum at the age of three. Since publishing her children’s book, The Incredible Cam Man, which was inspired by her work, and especially by Cam, Natalie has felt a huge amount of support from friends, family, and co-workers alike. Natalie is pictured here with some wonderful ladies from a mom’s group she’s part of, whose support continues to encourage her. Natalie says, “These women have a very special place in my heart, and have been excited from the first day I let them know I wrote a book...they are amazing and I enjoy walking life with them!”
